County urges residents to throw out cheese linked to E.coli outbreak

April 4, 2026 (San Diego County) -- San Diego County health officials are urging consumers to purge their refrigerators of specific raw cheddar cheese products after a multi-state E. coli outbreak that has hospitalized at least three people and left one person with a life-threatening kidney condition.

The warning, issued late Thursday, targets RAW FARM brand raw milk cheddar cheese.

The Fresno-based company initiated a voluntary recall on April 2, 2026, after the outbreak was linked to nine illnesses across California, Florida and Texas.

FDA STATEMENT ON E. COLI 0104 OUTBREAK IN EUROPE

 

 

June 7, 2011 (FDA) -- The U.S. FDA has been in routine contact with the European Union and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to monitor the current outbreak of E. coli O104 and to track any illnesses in the U.S. that may be related to the outbreak.  A deadly new strain of E-coli in Europe has led to deaths of 23 people.  Cases have been reported in several European countries and the U.S. So far, 2200 cases have been reported in 13 countries.
